The last thing you want to see are marks on your car’s paint. Your car is an extension of your identity and if you take fantastic care of your car’s paint job, even the tiniest marks look like something more severe to you. United Auto Care understands and wants you to know that there’s a lot of possible causes for what you’re seeing.
Washing the Car
Whether you wash your car by hand or you run it through the car wash every once in a while, washing your car can be a big cause of marks on your car’s paint. When you’re washing by hand, microscopic dirt and debris stuck in the sponge or cleaning cloth can cause teensy scratches that become worse over time and with other damage. If you run your car through a car wash, even a brushless one, you might see some of the same types of marks.
Buffing and Waxing
When you buff, polish, and wax your car, you might run into the same problem as you do with sponges and cleaning cloths. Any dust or microscopic debris that’s on the cloth can cause tiny scratches in the clear coat and even the paint. If you’re using a lot of pressure when you buff or wax, that can contribute to the problem.
Cleaning Products
But it’s not just dust and dirt that can be the culprits. Some of the cleaning products you might use on your car, even ones that say they’re safe, contain ingredients that are harsh on your car’s paint. That means that afterward, you think you’ve cleaned your car, but you have actually put something on the pain that’s causing it to scratch, pit, or otherwise get marred.
Car Covers
Car covers protect your car’s pain, for the most part. But they can also do tiny bits of damage themselves. The interior of the car cover rubs against the paint, and that can trap dust and dirt against the paint. Every time you put the cover on or take it back off, friction against the paint can create new marks.
Door Dings
Everybody has had that experience of coming home and finding new little scratches, dings, and marks on their car. Perhaps you might even recognize that there’s a smidge of someone else’s paint on the car. If the dings are significant, there may even be accompanying dents.
No matter what’s causing the marks on your car, United Auto Care in Flowery Branch, GA, wants to help you to get it looking beautiful again. Give us a call so we can get started.
